A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you my new studio space. Since then I’ve been working on setting up the encaustic workshop and it’s ready to do it’s job. I became interested in photo encaustics in January and took a couple of workshops over the summer. (I shared about those workshops here.) Moving time came and all the encaustic supplies were packed up. Here is the great unveiling, so to speak. I haven’t yet, actually worked in the space creatively but will share as the experiments and creations emerge.
- Oh the possibilites that I saw in this space! And yes, there is a swing in the basement. Good spot to work out some creative kinks.
- As it was left when the moving van left.
- The other corner, with boxes placed by the movers.
- This is actually Michael’s workshop. But pay attention to those lovely stainless steel topped counters.
- Since encaustics involves working with hot wax, stainless steel makes a perfect work surface. I left to do errands one morning and came home to find them in my work space complete with rolling casters.
- Many of the boxes have been unpacked and the cupboards filled with supplies and equipment.
- Notice the far right corner, and the lack of boxes. There are still a dozen or so boxes in teh middle of the basement but they’ll be unpacked later and don’t interfere with my space.
- One space for preparing boards and mounting images…
- And another space for working with the hot wax. One of the things that makes this a great space are the windows. Good ventilation is necessary when working with encaustic medium.
